"Every person deserves to have their worth and their dignity respected, and that's what you all empower every day."

That was the message from Massachusetts Gov.

Maura Healey Thursday at an event celebrating the winners of $30 million in grants from the Cummings Foundation, Boston.com reports.

The foundation, co-founded by real estate developers Joyce and Bill Cummings, awarded $30 million in three-year and 10-year grants to 150 nonprofits in the Boston area.

"We are so inspired by the local nonprofit professionals and volunteers who work every day in service to others," says Joyce Vyriotes, executive director of the Cummings Foundation.

"They really move the needle on issues facing our communities, and we are so pleased to support their efforts."

Among the winning causes: immigrant and refugee services, education, housing and food insecurity, workforce development, social justice, and mental health services.
