Nbcuniversal'S Creative Impact Lab Creates National Tv Spot for Challenged Athletes Foundation

When college football player Derek Loccident tore his left foot off as a sophomore and needed a prosthetic leg, he didn't think twice about giving up on his dream of competing in the Olympics.

"It's awesome to be part of a family like this," the 25-year-old says of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which provided him with the leg.

Now he's hoping to compete in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, and the foundation has teamed up with NBCUniversal's Creative Impact Lab to create a 30-second public service announcement that will air on Comcast and NBCUniversal platforms ahead of the Games, Mashable reports.

The PSA features Loccident, who has a prosthetic leg thanks to the foundation's "sur and sports expense grant," and volunteers from the creative nonprofit agency Venice Arts, who created the spot with help from NBCUniversal volunteers.

"The Challenged Athletes Foundation is a leader in supporting athletes with physical disabilities, and we were thrilled to work with Venice Arts to create a powerful PSA that will hopefully inspire others like Derek to pursue their dreams," NBCUniversal's executive VP of corporate social responsibility says in a press release.
