When it comes to giving back to their communities, employees of companies are doing more than just putting money in their paychecksthey're giving their time and energy.
In fact, more than 27 million Americans work for companies that offer workplace giving programs, and those programs generated $5 billion in donations in 2023, according to a non-profit blog post.
There's also an estimated $4 to $7 billion of matching gift funds left over from those same workplace giving programs, according to another blog post.
Companies use workplace giving programs to encourage employees to donate to causes they're passionate about, to engage employees in giving, and to achieve certain corporate social responsibility goals, the blog post notes.
"Employees who engage in a nonprofit's mission even after they leave the company can benefit from a diverse group of donors who care about the nonprofit's mission and vision," the blog post states.
