Two Resignations, One Nmp Scheme, and the Questions Sorely Unanswered
Nominated Members of Parliament (NMPs) Raj Joshua Thomas and Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi sparked controversy when they resigned in tandem in February and subsequently joined the People's Action Party (PAP) The NMP scheme was a uniquely Singaporean parliamentary innovation introduced in 1990 one that allowed independent voices from civil society, academia, the arts, business and more to contribute meaningfully.
